Energy saving is becoming a serious problem. The key is not entirely in people's self-consciousness, but in the fact that utility tariffs are steadily increasing. People who receive invoices at the end of each month ask one question: "How can I save on electricity bills"?
In this article, I've written 20 simple tips that you can use to save a lot of power.
Council Number 1
Unplug the socket. Appliances, even when in standby, consume power. So turn off all "red lights" and unplug all wires from the network.
Council Number 2
Only buy energy-saving lamps. Although they are much more expensive than incandescent bulbs, they save 3-4 times electricity and last 10-12 times longer.
Council Number 3
Turn off the lights. It's dated, but make sure the lights and appliances in the apartment are not in vain (they forgot to turn off the lights in the hallway, the TV was on but no one was watching).
There is a good way to help solve this problem. If you have a child living with you (daughter, son, sister, nephew, etc. ), please designate him as the "power controller". If the child sees an adult resident of the apartment not turning off the lights, he must pay a fine. The effect is astonishing - households save electricity, children earn pocket money from inattentive relatives.
Tip #4
Shake out the vacuum cleaner. A vacuum cleaner works more powerfully if there is no debris in it. Cleaning will end sooner and therefore require less energy.
Council Number 5
Soak clothes before washing. Dirt is quickly removed from clothing, eliminating the need for multiple washes in the washing machine.
Council Number 6
Defrost the refrigerator. Freezers clogged with frozen ice are 15% less efficient.
Council Number 7
Install a dual rate meter. Nightly room rates are valid from 23: 00 to 07: 00. Electricity rates during this time are twice as cheap as they were on that day. Traditional counters count all the energy used on one balance. Therefore, it is not clear how much was spent during the day and how much was spent at night. To split the usage into two different balances, you need to purchase a bivalent list. Consumers using this feature claim that the money spent on the installation will pay off within 2-3 years.
In order to use this kind of counter more efficiently, it is best to set the delayed start mode on the device. This feature is not uncommon these days. There are plenty of washing machines, multi-cookers, toasters. Such technology could be programmed at night, and in the morning, to hang up the laundry and eat breakfast with pilaf and fresh cakes. Best of all, for these benefits of civilization, used electricity will cost half of what it normally would.
Council Number 8
Use area lighting. There is no need to turn on the lights in the whole room, it is enough to illuminate the various areas. For these purposes, you can use smaller lamps than you would normally place in your main chandelier.
Council No. 9
Choose a light wallpaper. Sunlight bounces off white. So in a white room it will always be brighter than in an apartment with a darker interior.
Council No. 10
Cleanliness is not only a guarantee of health, but also an economic guarantee. A clean light will be 15% brighter. And don't forget that clean windows allow sunlight to pass better. So instead of paying extra for utilities, it's better to do the cleaning.
Council No. 11
Descale the kettle. A limescale kettle will take longer to boil than a clean kettle. It makes sense to clean it up. It's not difficult to do: Pour a small amount of water into a kettle, add 15 grams of baking soda and bring to a boil. Pour off the water and repeat the process again, but with citric acid.
Council No. 12
Remove limescale from the washing machine. Just like a kettle, a washing machine consumes a lot of electricity when limescale builds up on the components used to heat the water. The machine cleans the same way as the water bottle in tip #11, except that you take more citric acid - 5 sachets. Pour one into the drum itself and the rest into laundry detergent. Set digestion mode.
Citric acid can be replaced with acetic acid. Pour 50ml into the machine while running the water at 90 degrees. But keep in mind that acetic acid is more aggressive than citric acid. Vinegar removes limescale faster, but can damage the rubber parts of the washing machine.
Council No. 13
Replace wiring, sometimes increased power consumption is due to old wiring
Council No. 14
Buy equipment, grade A, grade AA, grade AAA. These are the most energy efficient categories. Such an indicator is calculated according to the annual electricity consumption of the equipment. For example, if the washing machine consumes 55% of the standard, then this is Class A, up to 75% - Class B, up to 95% - Class C, and so on.
Tip #15
Do not place the refrigerator near a radiator, or near a wall. He will work hard.
Tip #16
Do not put hot food in the refrigerator. He will spend extra energy cooling the food.
Tip #17
Do not over-dry the clothing, dampen it with a spray bottle. Otherwise, the ironing time will increase significantly. Slightly damp clothes iron faster. As a result, less power is used.
Tip #18
Choose a laptop instead of a computer. On average, a laptop consumes 60 watts per hour, while a computer (system unit, monitor, speakers) consumes 220 watts. As you can see, laptops are much more economical.
Tip #19
Clean dust from your computer. As mentioned above, all appliances that are full of dust, limescale or grime will work in boost mode. Computers are no exception. Therefore, do not forget to clean the system unit of dust in time. Also, if the system unit overheats very badly, it may even deteriorate. By cleaning your computer on time, you can avoid accidental purchases.
Tip #20
Select LCD Display. LCD monitors consume 3 times less power than CRT monitors.
Use these tips and your electricity bill will surprise you in the near future.
